Fix Damaged Memory Card
How would we know that the memory card has been damaged or broken? Here are some errors that often comes to you as errors:
- drive is not formatted, do you want to format it now
- memory card cannot be formatted if you confirm the format notice
- card cannot be detected by your computer or MAC

Steps to Fix Damaged Memory Card
Before card repairing: If there are important photos, video or music that you stored on your memory card, you should use some data recovery software to get them restored at first. Or anything changes on your memory card would let you lose your photos forever.
Preparation: You need a computer to get this done and most of the damaged memory cards can be repaired. And a memory card reader is necessary for performing such repairing. Get your memory card loaded on your card reader and then connect it to you computer.
Step 1, Click ‘My Computer’ and you will see the icon of your memory card as an external device and then right click your memory card, and you will see there is a option – format
Step 2, Wait until format is done. There might be a “quick format” option, you can get it clicked to perform a quick formatting since formatting would be done in just a few seconds
Step 3, Right click your memory card on your computer, and then select ‘Property’
Step 4, There is an option that shows ‘Tools’, and on the first part, there is a door for you to “Start Checking”. Make sure you clicked both “Auto fix file system error” and “Scan and fix bad sectors”
Mostly your card will be fixed, however if your card cannot be formatted, then you need to download a formatting software developed for memory card.
